Mom was 63 when cancer took her from us six months after her diagnosis. After she passed, I went to her house to mourn and grieve, but something unexpected happened. As I walked up into my old bedroom, sitting on the dresser, this is what I found. Happy Birthday, Love, Always, Mom
Placed neatly with a rubber band around them, I found a stack of birthday cards, each including a letter she had written to me on my birthday, and she wrote to me every year of my birthday, from my very first birthday to my twenty-first. She kept every card, every letter, every candle and every birthday wish for that day when she wouldn’t be there to see another.
It blew me away. I was shocked, to say the least. She left these for me before going to the hospital, knowing she would not return.
Happy Birthday, Love always.
There is no love like the love of a mother. It is strong and unending, always there to give us strength and comfort. No matter what life throws our way, we know that our mother’s love will never falter.
A mother’s love is the most selfless and purest form of love there is. It knows no bounds and can overcome any obstacle. A mother’s love is always there, even when she isn’t physically present. Her love transcends time and space, and nothing can ever break it.
A mother’s love is unconditional. It doesn’t matter what her child does. She will always love them. Even when they make mistakes, she is there to help them learn and grow from them. A mother’s love is never-ending and the most powerful force in the world.
A mother’s love is selfless. She puts her child’s needs before hers and would do anything to keep them safe. A mother’s love can never be broken.
Dear mom, the day you died wasn’t the hardest day of my life; it was every day after that. Happy Birthday this year and every year. Thank you for this, and thank you for everything.
For your birthday this year, I will light a candle for you. Happy birthday in heaven.
