Types of Tie Knots:
There are four main types of tie knots: the four-in-hand, the half Windsor, the Windsor, and the Pratt. Of these four, the four-in-hand is by far the most popular. It’s simple to execute and works well with any type of shirt collar. The half Windsor is slightly more sophisticated and looks best with spread collar shirts.

The Windsor is reserved for special occasions and should only be used with shirts that have point collars. Finally, the Pratt knot is relatively easy to learn but can be difficult to master.

How to Tie a Four-in-Hand Knot
The first step is to put on your shirt and button up the collar. Then, hold the wide end of your tie in your right hand and allow it hang down over your stomach. Next, take the narrow end of your tie and thread it under the wide end from right to left. Once you’ve done that, bring the narrow end back over top of the wide end and then poke it up through the hole between your collar and necktie.

Now that the narrow end is poking through that hole, hold on to it with your index finger and thumb and bring it down towards your stomach while still holding onto the wide end with your other hand. Once both ends are hanging down at equal lengths, take hold of the narrow end again and cross it over top of wide end from left to right. After that, poke it up through hole between collar and necktie once more.

Finally, take hold of both ends of your necktie and tighten by pulling down towards your stomach until desired tightness is achieved. You can then adjust the length of each side by tugging on either end until everything looks just right. After that, simply tuck in any loose ends and you’re all set!

Tying a perfect knot doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. With this step-by-step guide, you’ll be able to execute a flawless four-in-hand knot in no time at all. Just remember to practice tying your necktie before heading out for an important meeting or event!
